Driverless Bus, VR, 5G Will Present at Asian Games

Asian Games which will be held in Indonesia is not just about the sport competition between Asian countries. The event will also become an advance technology trial.

On that event visitor will be amused with the high- tech atmosphere; autonomous bus, virtual reality (VR), and 5G communication. Those cutting edge technology will be brought by Indonesian largest cell operator, Telkomsel.

“During the 2018 Asian Games visitors can get to know and feel the implementation of revolutionary technology through various devices equipped with 5G technology,” said Telkomsel’s President Director, Ririek Adriansyah to Liputan6.

The driver-less bus will operate around the Jakarta Asian Games venue, at Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan, to serve Asian Games visitors.

In that area, a lot of sensors will be installed hence they can communicate in real time through 5G communication network.

Telkomsel will also establish a 5G Experience Center at the 2018 Asian Games venue, to show off the VR technology and other 5G demo. VR Football application will allow viewers watching the live soccer match virtually, experiencing as if they are on the soccer field.

This will be the first 5G communication trial in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Telkomsel claimed they had got permission from the Ministry of Communication and Information, to use the 5G network at the 28 GHz spectrum.

5G is the next generation communication after 4G that allowed data communication with more speed in lower frequency.

Operators in some countries has announced the trials and deployment of 5G technology, including operators in US, England, Spain, South Korea, and Australia.
