Arsianews, Jakarta – Deputy Chairperson of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Hidayat Nur Wahid brought together Badr Suud Fahd Al Sumaith, a representative of IICO (International Islamic Charity Organization) based in Kuwait, with representatives from Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT), Rumah Zakat, and PKPU Human Initiative.
Hidayat deliberately arranged the meeting because IICO representatives are currently in Indonesia to see potential cooperation with Indonesian humanitarian agencies. IICO is known to have long worked together and helped social activities in Indonesia.
“IICO is a large charity institution in Kuwait and registered at the United Nations (UN),” Hidayat said in a written statement last weekend.
By presenting ACT, Rumah Zakat, and PKPU Human Initiative, Hidayat hopes that the three institutions can establish cooperation with IICO. In a meeting with representatives of IICO, ACT, Rumah Zakat, and PKPU representatives presented their respective institutions and activities that had been carried out.
“I am very satisfied after seeing social activities in Indonesia, especially activities that collaborate with Kuwait. Activities are carried out well, professionally, effectively,” said Badr Al Sumaith.
According to him, social activities are not only the responsibility of social institutions, but also become personal responsibility. For this reason, emirs in Kuwait donate to the world community through IICO.
“Even though our country is not a big country, our role has a big influence,” he added.
He invited ACT, Rumah Zakat, and PKPU to synergize with IICO. However, Badr Al Sumaith reminded that to be able to cooperate with IICO, the institutions must get a recommendation from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“We have rules, outside institutions must be recognized by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs. If this problem is resolved, we are ready to work with ACT, Rumah Zakat and PKPU,” he said.
