Arsianews, Jakarta – The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), the Middle East Standing Committee and the Organization of the Islamic Conference (KT3OKI) encourage Indonesian small and medium enterprises SME to export to the Middle East because of the huge market. To smooth it out, the institution held a business meeting with Saudi Arabian businessmen, in Jakarta.

The opportunities for SME to export their products to Saudi Arabia are wide open. Currently, they observe the products they want to buy. Such as furniture, handicrafts, coffee, tea, etc. We also invite SMESCO. They are interested to visit it, building a business link,” said the Chairman of the KT3OKI Chamber of Commerce, Fachry Thaib.

He further said that Indonesian SME products are already well-known. Beside visiting Smesco, the businessmen also visit Grand Indonesia and Sarinah where many local products are displayed and sold there.

“Our products are better in quality than China’s. There are even large buyers from Eastern Europe. They often purchase SME products,” he said.

He further said, besides the export of SME’s products, palm oil products also have a huge opportunity to export to the Middle East.

“Our products exported to the Middle East. They are already quite well known there. For example pharmaceutical products, tires, coffee, and tea. Other countries order a lot from us,” he explained.

Furthermore, he said, the huge opportunity for exports to the Middle East should be supported by halal certification.

Therefore KT3OKI supports the guarantee of halal products. KT3OKI is also ready to socialize Law No. 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Guarantee (JPH) in the business world.

“Kadin is very supportive too. Our neighbor countries, even those which are not Islamic countries, have built a halal industry,” said Fachry.

He hoped that the Halal Act would not get obstacles in its implementation. Article 53 the Law on JPH also regulates the issue of public participation, where the community including business community can participate in the implementation of the Halal Law.

“The participation can be in the form of participating in the dissemination of the Halal Law and overseeing the implementation,” he concluded.
