More than 40 Indonesian companies showed their best products at the 2019 Indonesia Expo, Indonesia’s first single product exhibition in Qatar that opened yesterday at the InterContinental Doha The City.
The three-day exhibition, launched by Indonesian Ambassador Muhammad Basri Sidehabi, displayed a variety of Indonesian products such as paper, clothing, jewelry, charcoal, medical equipment, food, IT, labor services, furniture and tires.
This exhibition provides a platform for the Indonesian and Qatar business communities for further collaboration and aims to seek new business partnerships and collaborations.
“It is indeed our hope that this exhibition will open up opportunities and further collaboration between the two countries, especially in the area of trade and investment exchanges,” Sidehabi stressed when he officially opened the exhibition.
He pointed out that “according to data from the Qatar Chamber, trade volume between Qatar and Indonesia increased 154 percent to $ 877 million in 2018 from $ 346 million in 2017 where Qatari exports to Indonesia increased $ 728 million last year and Indonesian exports to Qatar increased to $ 148 million last year. ”
“This is a pretty encouraging number, but I am sure that there is an example of room for improvement to increase our trade volume and also investment for the mutual benefit of countries and economic relations in general. In that regard, Indonesia Expo 2019 is part of the effort to achieve the goal that, “the ambassador added.
With the tag line “Gateway to Indonesian Products,” the event also saw the participation of business delegates from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Aceh Province branch which provided further impetus for this exhibition.
The opening ceremony was attended by President of the Qatar-Indonesia Business Council Farhan Al-Sayed, a prominent Qatari businessman and ambassador of various missions, among others.
Qatar and Indonesia have enjoyed good bilateral relations which have been strengthened and developed in all fields through time for the benefit of the two countries.
Exchange visits by high-ranking officials from the two countries in recent years talk about it. This three-day exhibition is part of an effort to further consolidate mutual cooperation in the business sector and contribute to increasing the volume of trade and investment exchanges.
